Biography

When not writing, I earn my bowl of rice and beans as a software engineer (please click here to visit my programming site and to learn more about my alter ego).  I have Bachelor’s (McMaster University) and Master’s (Dalhousie University) degrees in Philosophy and I like to read and write works that ponder the bigger questions.  At The Humber School For Writing I studied with novelist Michael Helm.

My debut novel, The Last Stoic, a story about appetite and fear, both modern and ancient, is due to be released early in 2011 by Hidden Brook Publishing (http://www.hiddenbrookpress.com/).

I live in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, with my wife Nancy and son Griffin, next to the best fresh-water sailing in the world.

Words and thoughts…

Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. — Marcus Aurelius
